Bin Cooking—A Smart Lifestyle

I like the logo of British’s supermarket Sainsbury: Live well for less! The idea behind is ‘Waste less, Save more’ & ‘Food Rescue’.
Its meaning can apply to our modern life—many of us own too much material as well as waste the same amount of them. Why we do such a thing? It is partly because lacking of a good plan before shopping and partly due to viewing spending money as a fun or pressure -release.
*How to save your food (Sainsbury website)

A very useful and environmental-friendly seminar—Bin cooking was hosted by a neighbour community at a pub (as photo). It taught people how to choose fresh food in supermarkets, and how to preserve cooking materials separately and correctly.

For example, sometimes, you purchase too many eggs (because the more you buy, the cheaper they are), and you start to worry about the freshness after several days; here is a simple way to check it. Put them in the water, if they sink into the water, it shows that it has rotten, DON’T EAT! In addition, you may boil some eggs after shopping and put them in the freezer and that is a way to preserve them longer.

The core value and theme of the bin-cooking seminar is using some residual materials to become a good meal. It does not necessarily need any professional skill. Menus such as a mixed salad bowl, an apple pie, or potato pastry are easy to do. This is a good and varied way to make best use of all materials.
My partner and I made these.

It is a great idea for those who shop daily food too much, and as a result have to throw them out after expire. This sunny afternoon, we have cooperated to make different dishes and ate together in the evening to be a good ending for this course and pay our gratitude for food.

The Romantic Part of Diaspora Life

The following words are cited from Robin Cohen’s (2008, p.8) book—Global Diasporas:
In his book, he tries to tell his reader that migrants sometimes have an imaginary picture of living overseas and have a pretty dream for the future; this story just tell us it is a romantic part of all the reality. It is a diaspora describes the place he lives (ps: an unknown place).

‘I have been convinced that I was living abroad and, at a push, overseas. It now turns out, however, that I have actually been living in the diaspora. This sounds like a very lovely place, with flora and fauna,[ …], blue skies and a certain je ne sais quoi. The sort of place where you can tiptoe through the tulips, stopping every so often to smell Rose, […], and any other delicacies that take your fancy…’

In the surrounding place I live, it is not a dream, This is Preston Park, a place as big as a football field, has two gardens (Rose garden and Rock garden, I will introduce tem next time) and one church inside. Very often, I walk only 5 minutes to there from my living place to take a fresh air and stretch my body. It is truly beautiful there!
