Walled Garden

It is always me or no more than two people strolling around here. And I never feel tired of this hidden garden.

Rose Garden sits in the front of the Preston Park, and Walled Garden located in the back. This squared space has an arched walkway entwined with plants standing in the middle.

I find that there are many unknown flowers and plants bloom seasonally, making this garden never being empty and boring.

Tranquil and picturesque, it is just like the backdrop of ‘Alice in Wonderland’. Experts say meditation and water are wedded forever, so it is a good place sitting down by the lily pond to take a breath, admire lovely flowers and listen birds-singing.

Several days ago, I recommended a friend to visit this garden with me, she was surprised with the variety of flora, saying that,’ I never know such a wonderful place until now since she have lived here for nine months.’
Amazing , this public but secret garden is never crowded even though there are so many mysterious plants and flowers that are worthy of staying for a long time. I will say, beautiful gardens are essential and embedded in British ordinary life.
Never mind how many flowers and plants that you don’t know, just happily enjoy this wonderful sight. By the way, it could be a good idea to learn gardening here!

Rose Garden

A Japanese famous cartoon suddenly comes to my mind after I visited Rose Garden several times:
Source: Wiki
Once upon a time, there is a pretty girl named キャンディキャンディ(小甜甜) who grew up in an orphanage. One day, she felt quite sad and ran out of the orphanage, then bumped into a very good-looking young man standing in a garden with many beautiful roses...

Roses and her mysterious prince – Anthony compose of the popular and classic Japanese historical romance novel. And interestingly, キャンディ・キャンディ (小甜甜later was sent to the UK to study by her adoptive family.

Rose Garden situates in the Preston Park and is designed to have multiple colours and sorts of roses in 2001. There is no Prince Anthony but two life-sized French statues standing on both sides representing different seasons.
Now it is the right season for the national flower for England: the rose. When the weather is sunshine, everyone enjoys this rosy place so much.

Summer Strolling in Lewes

Lewes is the county town where the East Sussex County Council has its main offices. I have been to Lewes last winter but I did not stroll around the city, which local people recommend that it is a nice place to walk; therefore, I went there when I needed to take a break last month.

It seems that summer has not reached peak heat in the UK. However, it was extremely hot when I visited Lewes around in the noon.

Walking out of the station and along the right side, there are some antique stores in the streets, including a flea market central for meeting your nostalgic feelings.

In the middle of the town, Lewes Castle stands on the high hill, showing that its political status in the history.

Several small lanes with shade trees and flowers connect to the Castle, providing the best channel when walking in the sunshine.

Some private houses are built next to the castle.
Strooling up to the top of the hill, as the English poet, novelist: William Morris puts it,
You can see Lewes lying like a box of toys under a great amphitheatre of chalk hills [...] on the whole it is set down better than any town I have seen in England.’

Down to the way to return the station, I came across Southover Grange Gardens, a place with formal flower beds, modern sculpture and hidden nooks.

Therefore, I spent another hour to stay there to enjoy the wonderful exploration of Lewes.

I believe that is one of the biggest attractions in the East Sussex.
