Enjoy British Summer in York

York City is well known about its medieval style from ancient city walls to black stone roads. Although there are not so many famous parks and gardens as those in South England, many local people maintain their house gardens with beautiful flowers, as well as visit two main attracting places to enjoy their summer flowers in sunny days:

☀Rowntree Park

It is opened by local entrepreneur and philanthropist Joseph Rowntree.

Near the city centre, it offers different areas where people play sports and picnicking.

Featured by a large lake in the centre, this park is home to many ducks, swans, and geese. 

If you visit the park, take your time to have a tea in the tearoom by the lake.

In fact, it is a small library as well, so you can image you drink a cup of tea with a slice of cake reading free newspapers and interesting books in the lovely afternoon.

☀York Museum Gardens

Located within the city centre, York Museum Garden is one of the key tourist attractions in York city.

The award-winning museum has a beautiful backyard where hosts the vast botanical collection and wildlife with many species of bird.  

More interestingly, it is a place in the city centre that you can bring with your lunch boxes, find your own corner, and sit down to feel you are part of this big zoo.

約克以其古老的城牆和黑色石頭路的中世紀風格而聞名。儘管不如在南英格蘭有那麼多著名的公園和花園，但這裡很多當地人會用美美的花維護自己的花園，還有在陽光明媚的日子裡參觀兩個主要的吸睛景點，

1.朗特里公園
它是由當地企業家和慈善家Joseph Rowntree開設的。在市中心附近，它提供了人們不同運動和野餐的區域。這個公園以擁有位於市中心旁一個大湖為特色，擁有許多鴨子，天鵝和鵝。
如果你造訪公園，請花些時間在湖邊的茶室喝茶，事實上，它也是一個小型圖書館，所以你可以想像你喝一杯茶，一杯蛋糕，閱讀免費報紙和有趣的書度過1個美好的下午。

2.約克博物館花園
位於市中心，這也是主要市區觀光景點之一。屢獲殊榮的博物館有一個美麗的後院，擁有大量的植物收藏和野生動物以及多種鳥類。

更有趣的是，它是在市中心你可以帶著你的午餐盒，找到你自己的角落，坐下來感覺你是這個大動物園的一部分的一個地方，。

National Railway Museum in the UK

The railway system in Great Britain is known as the oldest in the world and has its prominent role in developing the local economy and bringing tourists from all over the world to travel within cities. The intensive railway networks privatized between 1994 and 1997 nowadays are operated by different companies. 

Does British Rail system always punctual? When I lived in Brighton, Southern rail seemed often strike (><). Besides, according to BBC report (2017), ‘the Office of Rail and Road said 12.3% of trains - nearly one in eight - were not on time last year.’ What if a delay of 30 minutes or more was made to your train journey? Luckily, you can claim for a delayed compensation to reduce complaints. 

Many ancient British trains, glinting brightly without any rusting metal appearances, display gracefully in National Railway Museum for providing people with a good chance to recall the past days. 

National Railway Museum is one of the most popular attractions at York. Every weekend, there are many families coming to visit the place where many antique trains were honourably retired from duty and well maintained to tell their glory history.

There are also some memorable trains that originated from Japan and Switzerland. Each of them was designed for different transportation purposes, such as travelling or medical and represents as a sophisticated masterpiece of design in industrial technology.

While the train is the simplest, most convenient and cost-effective way to travel from one city to another in the UK (also in Europe), the train fares have risen since 2011 and could be notoriously expensive. To find cheap tickets, there are some tips suggested by the Telegraph (2018).

I still remember a post on a bus, saying 'only the fool will pay double price for the same item' So Let’s be smart! Book your journey earlier and reduce the travelling cost.

英國國家鐵路博物館

英國的鐵路系統被稱為世界上最古老的鐵路系統，它在發展當地經濟以及提供來自世界各地的遊客在城市內旅行方面發揮著顯著的作用。 1994年至1997年期間私營化的密集鐵路網絡，現在由不同公司營運。

英國鐵路系統總是守時嗎？當我住在布賴頓時，南線鐵路似乎經常發生罷工（哈哈）。此外，根據英國廣播公司（BBC）的報告（2017年），“鐵路和公路總局表示12.3％的火車 - 接近八分之一 - 去年沒有及時到達。”如果延遲30分鐘或更長時間旅程怎麼辦？幸運的是，您可以要求延遲賠償來減少埋怨。

許多古老的英國列車，閃閃發光，沒有任何生鏽的金屬外觀，在國家鐵路博物館優雅地展示給人們一個很好的機會回顧過去的日子。

Graduation in Phoenix Flower Bloom Season

When the blooming of cherry blossoms reached its peak by the end of April, and cherry blossoms start to gracefully and beautifully fall on the grounds in May; it is a sign for the coming summer.

In York, there is no particular spot for sightseeing cherry blossom; cheery trees can be seen near Rowntree Park, pavements, city centre and city walls, constituting a picturesque background with York’s historical buildings.

It is not a proper summer yet in the UK, but British people already had some hot and sunny days. By contrast, in Taiwan, summer comes earlier and has reached over 25 degrees Celsius. Many Delonix regia—the flame trees, start to display showy red and yellow flowers.

Delonix regia has an English name--Royal Poinciana or Flamboyant growing in a tropical or sub-tropical country in the world. In May, we can see many of ‘these red flames’ in Southern Taiwan during hot summer. 

May to July is phoenix flowering season in Taiwan, and is also about the time for college graduation.  Taiwanese draw on its flower language which symbolises ‘farewell’, or ‘fiery youth’  to describe graduation time as Phoenix Flower Bloom season.

Getting ready to leave school? Students at Kao Yuan University will be expected to have a wide distribution in many societies as the growth of Phoenix trees worldwide, and they have to be passionate as the flame to serve the ever-changing global IT working fields. 畢業於鳳凰花開季節

當櫻花盛開到4月底達到頂峰時，櫻花在5月優雅地美麗地飄落在地上時，這是夏天即將到來的跡象。在約克，並沒有特別的觀光景點可以欣賞櫻花盛開;在Rowntree公園，人行道,市中心和市城牆附近可以看到櫻花樹，與約克的歷史建築構成風景如畫的背景。

現在英國還不是一個真正的夏天，但英國人已經有了一些炎熱和陽光燦爛的日子。相較之下，在台灣，夏天來得早，已達25攝氏度以上。許多鳳凰樹 - 火焰樹，開始展現華麗的紅色和黃色的花朵。它有一個英文名字 - 皇家Poinciana或Flamboyant，生長在世界上熱帶或亞熱帶的國家。因此，在炎熱的夏天，我們可以在台灣南部看到很多'紅色火焰'。

五月到七月是台灣鳳凰花季，也是大學畢業的時候。台灣人取此花語其表達“告別”或“火熱的青春”來形容畢業季節為鳳凰花開季節。

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle

I didn’t write my blog unit today in May because I played taekwondo and bruised my arm; after one week, I fell down on stairs in the train station when I was going 'upstairs' to rush for my train to Oxford in the morning; as a result, my many fingers are injured. And unfortunately again, I hopped on the wrong train (how silly!).

I really need good luck right now so I decide to write this big day of the UK to share with their joy. Yes, the British Royal Family is more and more versatile as Meghan Markle, married to Prince Harry today, becoming their new member!!! York City Centre is decorated by the very British brollies and a big screen set up for people to watch the wedding to celebrate for this blissful day!

Meghan has changed and successfully changed the nature of the Royal Family. There is continuing much gossip about Meghan before this wedding such as divorce, American actress…while this lovely couple decided to omit it since the beginning and keep walking on the way to happiness. Obviously, Meghan’s sparkling smile has won over the British people’s hearts. When I asked an old British lady at York how does she think about this marriage? Do you like Meghan? She answered me, ‘yes, now we live in a modern world’. I guess that means the Royal Family’s boundary and norms can never be so narrowed and enclosed.

Also, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been named the Duke and Duchess of Sussex by the Queen on their wedding day! As I live in Sussex last year, Sussex for me is a place full of diverse culture; food and drinks, beautiful gardens, and relaxed lifestyle, people are welcoming and energetic just as this lovely couple. Wonderful!

今年五月份直到今天前我都沒寫部落格，因為我去’玩’跆拳道，淤傷了我的手臂;過了一個星期後，我在清早去火車站'上樓'去趕搭火車去牛津時，跌倒在樓梯上; 結果，我的許多手指都受傷了(兩手共5隻破皮流血)。 不幸的是，我又跳上了錯誤的列車（太蠢了！）。

我現在真的很需要好運氣，所以我決定今天寫這個英國的大日子，分享他們的快樂。 那就是,英國皇室越來越多才多藝了，因為Meghan Markle今天嫁給了哈利王子，成為他們的新成員!!! 在約克市中心裝飾了非常英國的傘，並設置了一個大螢幕供人們觀看婚禮，以慶祝這個充滿祝福的日子！

Meghan改變了並且成功地挑戰了皇室的本質。婚禮之前，還有很多有關梅根的閒話...... 離婚，美國女演員, 然而這對可愛的夫婦決定從開始就忽略它，並繼續走在幸福的路上。顯然，梅根燦爛的笑容贏得了英國人民的讚賞。當我問約克的一位英國老太太時，她是如何看待這段婚姻的？你喜歡梅根嗎？她回答我：'是的，現在我們生活在一個現代世界中'。我想這意味著皇室的界限和規範永遠不可能再狹窄和封閉了。

此外，哈利王子和梅根馬克爾在婚禮當天被女王命名為蘇克塞斯公爵和公爵夫人！我去年住在蘇塞克斯，對我來說蘇塞克斯是一個充滿多元文化的地方;食物和飲料，美麗的花園和輕鬆的生活方式，人們都很和悅和充滿活力，就像這對可愛的夫婦一樣。棒！
